How to rewet old clay

Just because that old bag of clay has been hanging out in the back of your closet and is now a little dried out doesn't mean you have to toss it. In this (short) video, our resident clay expert shows how to rewet old clay so it's as good as new!

For those of us that prefer to read than watch, here are the steps:

  • Open the bag of clay
  • Put about 1-2 cups of water for every 5 lbs of clay (depending on how dry it is)
  • Re-close the bag and tape closed any holes
  • Submerge the bag fully in a bucket of water
  • Wait 6 to 12 hours (depending on how much clay you're rewetting). Test it periodically
  • When it's the right wetness, pull the bag out of the water, open it, and dump out all remaining water
  • Enjoy!
